Below you will find descriptions of various apartment complexes with open waiting lists, and links to download preapplication forms to be put on the various waiting lists.  Preapplication forms must be completed and mailed to the McHenry County Housing Authority, 1108 N. Seminary Avenue, PO Box 1109, Woodstock, Illinois.  A background check form should be completed for each member of the family that is 17 years of age or older.  Background check forms must be submitted with each completed preapplication form.

By clicking the above link, you can check your status on all of our waiting lists EXCEPT GreenTrees of Huntley and SilverTrees of Richmond.   
 
 All applicants must keep a current address on file.  MCHA will occassionally mail documents or letters to a family that require their response in order to remain on the waiting list.  If you fail to respond to a MCHA mailing, you will be removed from the waiting list.  By using our Edit Contact Information tool, families will be able to update their contact information for all waiting lists other than GreenTrees and SilverTrees.  After entering your full name and social security number, you will be able to edit your email, phone number, and address.  Any other changes, such as a name change or adding/removing family members from your pre-application, must still be done in writing by completing a Change of Information form.

Opening and Closing of Waiting Lists:

McHenry County Housing Authority (MCHA) is now accepting pre-applications for project based voucher (PBV) assistance that may be used at the Congress Parkway Apartments in Crystal Lake, IL.  Pre-applications can be found below.  


MCHA has closed the following waiting lists effective 10/31/2019: Rental Housing Support program (all towns), Huntley Horizons, Creekview in Richmond, and the Villas of LITH.  Any applications received after 10/31/2019 will not be accepted.

Public Housing  The McHenry County Housing Authority Public Housing Program consists of 23 3-bedroom single family and duplex units throughout McHenry County.  Note:  families must be large enough to qualify for a 3-bedroom unit to be eligible for this program.  If you are uncertain if you qualify for a three bedroom unit, contact Chris Golbeck, Manager, at cgolbeck@mchenrycountyhousing.org , or 815/338-7752 X143.  For more information, please click here:

Congress Parkway Apartments in Crystal Lake, IL  The McHenry County Housing Authority has partnered with the Congress Parkway Apartment complex in Crystal Lake, IL to offer a limited number of one, two, and three-bedroom project-based units. The complex is seeking potential tenants for these units based on a certain criteria.  Some families will be assisted and some may be put on a waiting list for the complex. All applicants for this complex must have income at or below 50% of Area Median Income.  For the MCHA vouchers, MCHA will use the RHI centralized waiting list. A preference is given to people that work within 12 miles of the development, or participating in a work training program within 12 miles of the development or unemployed by reason of age (62 years or older) or disability. If the names of the centralized waiting list become depleted, MCHA will refer applicants to the landlord from a site-based waiting list.  We are currently accepting applications for individuals and families that will qualify for 1, 2, or 3-bedroom units.


Garden Place Apartments in Cary, IL The McHenry County Housing Authority has partnered with the Garden Place Apartment complex in Cary, IL to offer a limited number of one, two, and three-bedroom project-based units. The complex is seeking potential tenants for these units based on a certain criteria.  Some families will be assisted and some may be put on a waiting list for the complex.All applicants for this complex must have income at or below 30% of Area Median Income.  Priority consideration will be granted to all applicants on the waiting list that are living or working in McHenry County.  Remaining applicants that do not meet the residency preference will be considered for housing after screening of priority applicants has been completed. We are currently only accepting applications for families that will qualify for a 2-bdrm or 3-bdrm unit.

 

Residences of Lake in the Hills, IL  The McHenry County Housing Authority has partnered with the Residences of Lake in the Hills to offer a limited number of studio and one-bedroom project-based units.  This is a 55 or older community.  The complex is seeking potential tenants for these units based on certain criteria.  Some families will be assisted and some may be put on a waiting list for the complex.  All applicants for this complex must have income at or below 30% of Area Median Income.  Preference will be given for persons with disabilities transitioning from a licensed nursing facility into a private rental.  We are currently only accepting applications for individuals who meet the preference of transitioning from a licensed nursing facility.

Cary Senior Living, Cary IL   The McHenry County Housing Authority has partnered with the Cary Senior Living apartment complex in Cary, IL to offer a limited number of one-bedroom project-based units.  This is a 62 or older community set to open in October 2019.  

Some families will be assisted and some may be put on a waiting list for the complex.  The complex is seeking potential tenants for these units based on a certain criteria.  All applicants must have income at or below 30% of Area Median Income.  The site-based waiting list will contain a preference for persons referred from the Illinois Statewide Referral Network. If a person referred from the Illinois Statewide Referral Network is determined eligible by MCHA, the person will receive a preference for the next available identified project-based voucher unit in Cary Senior Living.  Individuals and families who do not claim this preference will be placed on the waiting list in order of the date when their application was received by MCHA.

Pearl Street Commons, McHenry IL  The McHenry County Housing Authority and the Chicago Housing Authority have partnered with the Pearl Street Commons apartment complex in McHenry, IL to offer a limited number of one and two-bedroom project-based units.  Some families will be assisted and some may be put on a waiting list for the complex.  The complex is seeking potential tenants for these units based on certain criteria.  All applicants for this complex must have income at or below 30% of Area Median Income.  The site-based waiting list will contain a preference given first to veterans and next to people with a disability.  Individuals and families who do not claim this preference will be placed on the waiting list in order of the date when their application was received by MCHA.
